Riza Dizon is a Registered Physiotherapist. She is registered with the College of Physiotherapist of Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Riza graduated from Central Luzon Doctor’s Hospital Educational Institution in the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. In Canada, she continued her studies at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University’s Open Learning Division. She received her physiotherapy registration in 2008. Riza believes in Continuing Professional Education and dedicated herself in studying current clinical research and enrolling in different courses. She completed several post-graduate training courses in Thoracic(1 and 11), shoulder, hip, knee complex injuries, foot and ankle, and introduction to Acupuncture.
“Passion for Patients” is Riza’s motto in her profession. She is dedicated to her patients by listening to them carefully and by using the best methodologies to treat them according to their needs. She is very friendly and approachable and patients feel her sincerity as they are treated with her “caring hands”. Riza’s approach to treatment is a combination of proper education, manual (hands-on) therapy, therapeutic exercises (range of motion ex’s, strengthening and stretching ex’s) home exercise program and pain modalities. She believes that each patient has a unique injuries and requires an individualized treatment plan. Riza’s greatest reward is to see her patients recover and to go back to their normal lives.
Riza’s more than 4 years of physiotherapy and rehabilitation experience has given her exposure to various conditions and ailments and dealing with various stakeholders. Working in various clinics and volunteering at the Toronto Rehab has given her knowledge and experience with elder and paediatric care, sports and workplace safety injuries and different disability related conditions. With these experiences, she has also dealt confidently with various health care providers and insurance companies to make sure that the patient is well taken cared of both medically and financially.
Riza spends her spare time with her husband and two young children and actively volunteers at her church.
